US THREE-PIECE Rose Hill Drive go back to the rock and psychedelia of 1970s bands such as Led Zeppelin and Cream for their sound but they do it with some spunk.

Album opener Sneak Out has the school's-out euphoria of Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion and its refrain is made to be screamed out of the window of a Dodge Charger as you head down to the levy for some hooch-fuelled abandon.

Its superb video has the Colorado youngsters pulling back their Cousin It hair and putting on thick-rimmed glasses to play computer nerds.

Lead singer Jacob Sproul does a fantastic impression of Garth from Wayne's World and the band display a keen sense of humour.

They play it straight on the album but there's still fun to be had, most created by Sproul's guitarist brother, Daniel.

He gives Trans Am a riff which ZZ Top would shave their beards off for and an army of Daniels gives Altar Junkie a crunching, primal backing which suggests the band does listen to more contemporary bands such as Queens of The Stone Age.

US rock bible Rolling Stone Magazine recently included them in its Ones To Watch list and they have garnered a huge following from their live shows, including a support slot for The Who.

The band bring their show to London with a gig at Camden's Barfly on September 8.
