AN AUTHOR has penned an educational poetry book in a bid to encourage a healthy work ethic in children. Onye Kingsley, from Plumstead, has published Career Talks in Verses to get young people thinking about their future via the arts.

His book highlights the skills of different workers and the important role they play in society.

As well as his written works, Onye also visits schools in his community to give talks and recitals.

Onye said: "The ultimate message is to encourage young people to make bold career moves and give them something to look forward to which will secure their future and lift them out of crime and insecurity."

He added: "I became interested in using poetry because it allows for effective communication. You are able to educate and entertain all at the same time."
