New street dance classes for kids land in Lewisham
A street dance school with plenty of attitude has opened a new branch in Lewisham.
The Aim High Dance Academy, led by principle Hayley Rea, blends dance styles and techniques to create a unique take on street moves.
Already teaching around 500 youngsters between three and 18-years-old in Croydon, Lambeth and Merton centres, the school has decided to set up at Ladywell Leisure Centre.
Classes will be free until the end of November, after which they will cost £4 per session.
Hayley is especially passionate about encouraging her students, whatever their ability, to explore all aspects of dancing.
She said: “Our purpose is to provide a place where we can promote leadership, teamwork, creativity and physical fitness training in a fun, safe and educational manner. “We mentor those who would like to turn a passion into a career and entertain the community by showing the talent hidden amongst them.”
The club also aims to teach children discipline and commitment.
Lewisham classes will be held every Wednesday (during term-time only), between 4pm and 7pm, with three different dance classes for three age ranges.
