Beautiful South front man Paul Heaton ends momentous cycling tour with sell-out gig

Former Housemartins and Beautiful South front-man Paul Heaton ended a mammoth 2,500 mile cycling tour with a special show in Greenwich.

To celebrate his 50th birthday and his love of cycling, the performer peddled 50 miles for each year he’s been alive and supported local boozers with a string of gigs across the UK and Ireland.

Paul ended his 40-day-long 50:50 Tour at The Pelton Arms on Saturday June 23 where he played songs from his extensive back catalogue along with some new material.

Tickets to the gig sold out within 16 minutes.

Geoff Keen, landlord of The Pelton Arms, told Vibe: “It was really, really good.

“It’s really good what he’s doing, getting people to use their local pubs.

“He did loads of his old stuff and a lot of new songs.

“A highlight for me was when they played White Man in Hammersmith by The Clash.

“Everyone said what a great night it was.

“He’ll hopefully be back soon for another gig when they tour with Squeeze.”

Paul and his band played 33 shows during his tour.
