An artistic architect is holding his first exhibition to showcase a glorious array of masterpieces he created over the last 15 years.
Michael Bowman, 56, is finally sharing his colourful work with the public after a lifetime of painting in his spare time.
The architect for London Fire Brigade uses a variety of mediums including watercolour, acrylics and even plaster, shells and rocks to create 3D scenes.
Michael’s exhibition at Bromley Central Library also includes ceramic figures and vases he has made over the last 10 years at Gallery 17 in Beckenham.
Sue Clark from the art centre encouraged Michael to put his work on show.
He said: “I’ve always done it for myself before and now I’ve had a lot of support from friends I’ve decided to go for it.
“People have been really kind and supportive.
“I was very, very nervous about the exhibition until just about now when things started coming together.”
The exhibition includes 60 pictures and 20 ceramic pieces and prices range from £35 to £325.
Michael’s most expensive work of art is the 4.5ft by 2.5ft Deep Sea – a stunning blue scene complete with fascinating rocky bed.
He added: “I used different materials like crushed seashells in Deep Sea.
“One of my favourites is The Cliffs because you can make them tell a story or people looking at them can make up a story about the characters in the picture.”
The talented artist also uses the computer to make layered pictures with many different elements to them.
Michael’s work will be displayed between Thursday February 23 and Tuesday March 6 at the venue in High Street, Bromley.
