DEPTFORD’S new community building officially launches next week – with the help of Prince and comedian Mark Thomas.
The striking, gold-coloured copper plated, building in Giffin Square has facilities including a library, café and community space, along with being the new home of Tidemill Academy.
Events kick off on March 1 from 3.30pm with a visit from author Steve Cole to mark World Book Day.
That evening Mark Thomas reads from his latest book in a free event at 7.30pm. Booking is essential.
On March 2, there’s a community information day with guided tours around the building from 10am to 4pm.
The fun continues when Deptford’s beautiful ones head to a free screening of Purple Rain. People are encouraged to dress-up with ruffles, heels and purple leather.
