Stars from the world of sport, music and TV flocked to Greenwich last night to see their favourite superheroes in action.

It was opening night for the Marvel Universe Live spectacular at The O2 and all of the big Marvel characters were present and correct, including Spider-Man, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America.

Watching them was a selection of celebs including The Modfather Paul Weller, Premier League footballer Jack Wilshere, Kyle Walker and Michel Varm, and telly favourites Stacey Solomon, Joe Swash, Jamie Theakston and Kate Garraway.

Aimed at the younger Marvel fan, the show is a bright, colourful, full-on two hours featuring dazzling stunts - including Captain America chasing down the Red Skull in an edge-of-the-seat motorbike pursuit and Spider-Man tackling the Green Goblin UPSIDE DOWN on a flying hover board.

Performance-wise, Marvel Universe Live is larger than life (more Joel Shumacher’s cartoony Batman and Robin than the recent Marvel movies) and it strikes you as cross between WWE-style pro wrestling, a pantomime and a stunt show.
