An Italian restaurant in Bexley is chipping in to help victims of the recent earthquake in Italy.

Ferrari’s is donating £1 from the sale of very dish of its Pasta Amatriciana to the Italian Red Cross to aid efforts following the disaster in Amatrice, where at least 268 people were killed and 400 were injured following a 6.2 magnitude quake.

Ferrari’s general manager Subash Neupane said: “This is going to go on for months, and I think we can help raise funds to support these poor victims and communities in the areas hit by this awful situation.”

The restaurant will also donate £10 for every bottle of their Wine of the Month sold too and plans to continue the appeal until at least the end of October.

Head ched Edoardo Pasquini said: “'This is just a little bit of love to our Italian neighbours, and trying to do something in the way that we know that we can, which is cook. Every little bit of help will count.”

The idea to donate money made from sales of the famous dish named after the disaster-hit town originated in Italy with food blogger Paolo Campana and has spread to more than 600 restaurants around the world.
