Big name comedians are coming back to south east London this summer as Greenwich Comedy Festival returns with a bumper bill and an extra night.

The eighth year of the festival held outside the National Maritime Museum has been brought forward from its previous September dates to between July 26 and 31.

Comedians booked to perform across two circus-style tents include Reginald D Hunter, Nina Conti, David O’Doherty, Milton Jones and Henning When.

Adam Buxton will perform a BUG: David Bowie Special, celebrating the south east London musician.

Festival producer Cass Briggs said: “We’re now in our eighth year in Greenwich, and we feel the festival has really come of age since arriving at the National Maritime Museum.

“We’ve presented some pretty great comedy line-ups in the past, and this year is no exception. There’s a generation of incredible British stand-ups out there at the moment and we’re really pleased that so many of them choose to come to our festival.

“Moving the festival to July is also an exciting step for us, allowing us to tap into that palpable buzz that comes over London at the height of summer, and which will make this year’s event even more special.”
