It is the festival which first screened the likes of Reservoir Dogs, The Usual Suspects and helped launch the career of Jennifer Lawrence, and now Sundance’s fresh batch of films heading for London has been announced.

Its previous three editions in the capital have taken place at Greenwich’s O2 Arena but this year Sundance London has shifted to Picturehouse Central in the West End and will take place from June 2 to 5.

Sundance’s founder Robert Redford said: “I have long believed that the quality and originality of the independent films we show would be of interest to global audiences. Our Sundance Film Festival: London allows us to further help these new independent films get out into the world, starting with engaged audiences in the UK.”

The festival features 11 UK and international feature film premieres direct from Sundance’s main festival in Utah in January, including Chris Kelly’s Other People starring Jessie Plemons and the drama Tallulah, written and directed by Sian Heder and starring Ellen Page and Allison Janney.

A programmed of short films includes a special selection of British shorts that were screened in Utah, including the Bafta-nominated animation Manoman, which was directed by Surrey Quay’s Simon Cartwright and Penge’s Kamilla Kristiane Hodol.

A Road to Stardom strand celebrates Sundance’s legacy in finding future stars and includes screenings of the Coen Brother’s 1985 Grand Jury Prize winner Blood Simple, Bryan Singer’s The Usual Suspects and the Jennifer Lawrence-starring Winter’s Bone.

A series of masterclasses and talks will discuss subjects such as the changing face of independent film, diversity and ‘cutting through the festival bullshit’.

Festival passes go on sale at 9am on Thursday, May 5, and individual tickets are available from Saturday, May 9.
