Erith’s Playhouse Theatre rarely takes a predictable route with its shows and that trend is continuing with its latest.

Next week, its new season kicks off with a stage interpretation of a TV comedy classic – Blackadder.

The team will stage three episodes of Blackadder Goes Forth, the series set in the Great War and written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.

The production from Monday (September 7) to Saturday (September 12) is timely, considering recent comments from the series’ original star Sir Tony Robinson that a new series is ‘on the cards’ so long as they can afford co-star Hugh Laurie’s wages.

Whether that ever happens is up for debate, but Blackadder Goes Forth is at Erith Playhouse from September 7 to 12. Tickets cost £9. Go to playhouse.org.uk
