Novelist Will Self and The Inbetweeners writers lead the line-up of writers, artists and academics at a festival celebrating life outside central London.
Doughnut – The Outer London Festival is hosted by the University of Greenwich at the Old Royal Naval College on Saturday (September 5).
Will Self is a patron of the festival and will take part in keynote discussion with writer Hanif Kureishi.
He said: “Outer London is the crucible of new developments in both the metropolis’ built environment and its sense of itself.
“Conflicts over development, transport and social identity are all being played out around London’s periphery. Doughnut festival is a timely response to a vital yet neglected aspect of our world city.”
Other highlights among the music, film and food include a Q&A with Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, who wrote the suburban-set sitcom The Inbetweeners, and a screening of an episode.
Tickets cost from £10 to £25. Go to ornc.org/doughnut
