Two local wheeler-dealers from Erith, Brook Vale, are set to hit the TV screens next month in the new show Deals, Wheels and Steals.

Jim "Del Boy" Lewis, 37, and Paul " Hardman" Wenham, 45, are part of a seven member cast hell-bent on getting the best deals they can, however they can, for second hand cars. On the new ITV show the whacky duo must haggle for the best price they can for their oily investments and then flog them.

The Del Boy of four wheels said, "I’ve always been interested in cars since I was a kid and I love to find a steal. I’m the Del Boy of the series - the main cast member."

Viewers should expect lots of banter from the principal characters of the show, chat that reflects the barmy optimism of the participants as they buy something that the rest of us might otherwise think is simply scrap.

Mr Lewis said: "My flat mate Paul is the hard man on the show. He’s the Simon Cowell of the car series and we’re rivals. He never lets anything go.

"He is always putting me down about buying old bangers, but whether or not he’s right is another thing. You’ll have to watch the show to find out."

Del Boy wouldn’t let any of his trade secrets slip, only that one of his favourite cars was a Range Rover Sport.

"Why?" he said, "Because I have one."

Jokes on him: Jim "Del Boy" Lewis, 37, and Paul "Hardman" Wenham, 45 have a friendly rivalry

Audiences will be watching the Erith wheeler-dealer take on his TV show enemy, Hardman Wenham, as the duo compete to be the best trader.

Hardman Wenham said: "I am the bad guy, no denying it, and I don’t take any prisoners. I have the price in my mind and I stick to it.

"The minute you get suckered into their price that is when you get done because when the hammer comes down it’s yours whether you want it or not."

Mr Wenham once served in the Army and it is this experience that has allowed to him to be one of the big buyers on the show.

The Hardman said: "Everything I try to do is done with military precision and that’s how I operate."

The hardman also conceded that whilst the bad boy persona is there, he and his Del Boy flatmate also have a laugh filming as they travel the country to find the next four-wheeled bargain.

The six part series is being broadcast on ITV, September 22 at 8pm.
