MORE TOP STORIES Eli – real name Elizabeth Dayo – said: “It’s amazing, I wasn’t expecting it because it’s such a huge competition. It was incredible that I got to the final.

“I was really nervous before going on stage, I worked myself up a bit, but I really wanted to do well. My family came with me, my mum was really excited.

“I decided to sing my own song in the final to show the judges I’m also a songwriter.”

Eli describes her music as a mix of rock and pop, with some acoustic elements.

She is now focussing on furthering her career and is playing a showcase to music label Future Music in the near future.
