Young actors from south east London have joined the cast of a major staging of The Railway Children.
Sydenham nine-year-old Ivy Hartley-Drewe - who attends Kelvin Grove School and the Lucy Lovick Dance School in Penge - was picked for the show alongside two children from Threshold Theatre Arts in Lee, 12-year-old Teddy Dixon and 10-year-old Jacob Swann.
Fellow youngster 11-year-old Bickley Primary School pupil Marcus Clarke, who attends Studio 74 Dance and Theatre School, will also star in the production.
They will be appearing in the adaptation of the classic novel at the purpose built Kings Cross Theatre behind Kings Cross station.
MORE THEATRE AND COMEDY:
The show features a real track and a 60-tonne vintage steam locomotive.
The trio of young stars join ten-year-old Aaliyah Morgan, from Eltham, and nine-year-old Milo Claes from Chislehurst – both of All The Arts Theatre School - in the play.
It is fitting that so many talented south east Londoners feature in the production – The Railway Children’s author Edith Nesbit lived in Grove Park and events in the book are arguably set there.
