Pop-up gardens, musical vegetables and the most dangerous garden for cats and dogs all form part of the Horniman Museum and Garden’s Chelsea Fringe Festival.

The museum already has 16 acres of gardens but is branching out with three pop-up gardens to coincide with Chelsea Flower Show.

Anatomy of a Flower is a botanical drawing recreated using more than 3,000 bedding plants, a mass of sunflowers makes up a garden called Sunseekers and Planting for Pollinators is designed as a banquet for bees, butterflies and other creatures.

MORE HOME AND GARDENS:

They are all themed around the Horniman’s indoor Plantastic exhibition and are free to visit from May 30.

On June 7, the London Vegetable Orchestra will perform and there will be the chance to make a carrot recorder or cucumber trumpet. Other activities include storytelling and the chance to make plant-inspired art and a seed bomb.

Insurance company More Th>n is creating a ‘dangerous garden’ (June 4 to 14) of plants that are poisonous to pets in order to raise awareness and encourage owners to be responsible in the garden.

Plant lovers can also enjoy the museum’s South London Landscapes photography exhibition and Plantastic, which features interactive games and exhibits.
