An Orpington high-flyer hit the screens as part of Channel 4 show Taking New York.

Georgina Leigh, 24, made her debut on C4's new reality show set across the pond.

Ms Leigh, originally from Orpington, has lived in Manhattan, New York, for the past five years.

Currently a creative co-ordinator, the show follows her and 11 other Brits as they either make it or break it in the big apple.

"I took my gap year, as a ski instructor and then did some voluntary marine conservation work. “During that time I sat the SAT exams which are needed to apply for University in the states.

"My good school friend had moved to New York during my gap year, I came to visit her during my University tours and I had my heart set on New York, thankfully I got into a school here, Parsons School of Design."

Missing her horse, Marks and Spencer’s, English chocolate and London shopping the most, New York's cheaper taxis, food, prohibition-era bars more than make up for her losses.

But she added: "The worst about New York, probably how impossible it is to grab a taxi between 4-5 and 9-11!!!

“Hundreds of taxis on the road, and all seem to be off duty!! Oh and the chocolate is rubbish here, and the bread. Every city has its bad points."
