Sitting prettily on the edge of Blackheath Common, The Princess of Wales has undergone a revamp to make it fit for a Queen.
The Montpelier Walk pub’s dark olive walls play on its royal name with collections of pictures of the princess and boothed leather seating in a regal purple.
There’s a wood-panelled snug for wintery nights and a conservatory for summery days, as well as a large back garden and tables out the front and on the heath.
It’s not just the decor that’s been revitalised – the range of beers has increased to include Camden Hells lager, Hacker-Pschorr Weisse and Curious Brew on tap.
The menu focuses on traditional pub dishes such as Roast Winter Vegetable & Caramelised Onion Tart with Blue Cheese & Olive Pastry and Slow-cooked BBQ Beef Rib with Fries & Coleslaw.
