A Locksbottom pub has reopened to give people a right royal welcome.

Previously unoccupied for two years, The British Queen in Crofton Road has reopened as a plush gastropub complete with polished wooden floors, relaxed lighting and a large cast iron fireplace.

Owners White Brasserie are serving an extensive wine list and a range of high quality beers, including Meantime Pale Ale.

The food is a combination of British pub classics and French brasserie dishes which will change regularly to reflect the season’s ingredients.

Autumn’s picks include the likes of Burgundian snails in garlic herb butter, pan-fried lamb sweetbreads with pickled wild mushrooms and roast hazelnuts, Scottish scallops with smoked bacon, autumn vegetables and Meunière sauce and roast pork belly and chateau potatoes with poached crab apple and crèpe franc-comtoise with mushroom, spinach, cheese and ham.
