The career of an autistic dancer from Sydenham has gone into overdrive after he reached the semi-finals of a major TV show.

Kaner Scott, 19, of Hazel Grove, made it to the semi-final of Sky 1’s Got to Dance before being knocked out by the public vote on August 26, but he isn’t going to let that keep him from dancing.

The former Eltham Green pupil (also known as Kaner Flex) passed a series of auditions to be put through to the live show with former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt as his team captain.

The young dancer was eliminated from the show after a public vote, despite judges insisting he was good enough to be a finalist.

Kaner’s mum Nicola Dungate, 39, told News Shopper: "I’m very proud of Kaner, we all are.

"Even though he didn’t make it to the final he has still got a lot out of it."

She added: "He has got himself a lot of exposure from being on the show and his name is out there.

"He started with just Hip-Hop and street dance and then he was doing all this body popping and contortion."

Got to Dance is the highest rated family show on Sky1 with almost a million viewers tuning in for the live episodes.

Kaner has only been dancing since he started to teach himself two years ago.

Kaner’s unique and advanced style has caused people from the pop world to want him for their videos.

Mrs Dungate said: "He’s been in a music video for Neon Jungle and an advert for Mentos. Rita Ora is interested in him as well.

"Kaner has autism and dancing has really helped him.

"I’ve definitely noticed a change in him since he started, he’s much more confident."
