The National Trust is encouraging people in north Kent to get involved in the Great British Walk.

The seven-week festival encourages people to explore nature and discover the sites on foot.

The walk will illuminate a host of people and places from across history starting on September 8 and finishing on October 24.

Properties in north Kent include the tranquil garden and 13th century chapel at St John’s Jerusalem in Sutton-at-Hone and the Owletts in The Street, in Cobham, Gravesend.

Of the land the Trust looks after in Kent, 389 hectares is always open to the public, while more than 1,400 hectares are within Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

People can share their Great British Walk experiences this year through Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using #GBwalk.
