Greenwich Theatre is taking three shows to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

The theatre, which won an award and plenty of plaudits at the festival last year, will also host three of them in south east London.

The Albion Company has co-produced Richard Vincent’s award-winning dark comedy Red Tap/Blue Tiger with Greenwich Theatre, where it will play on Saturday, July 26, before heading up north.

Greenwich Theatre’s artistic and executive director, James Haddrell said: “The Albion Company boasts an impressive list of supporters, including Olivier Award-winning playwright, Simon Stephens, they have the potential to be one of the most significant interventions in new writing over the next decade.”

The self-produced play Keeping Up with the Joans, in Greenwich from August 26 to 30, was written by award-winning writer Philip Meeks and stars Susan Penhaligon from Bouquet of Barbed Wire and Dr Who’s Katy Manning.

Broke, by The Paper Birds, is in  Greenwich on July 25, and was created from verbatim interviews with people about their experience with money and different kinds of debt.

The other Greenwich Theatre shows at the fringe are Hot Cat and Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story.

James said: “This will be the fourth year I've been to Edinburgh.

“The first year we worked on one show, then five and last year we worked on nine, winning an award and getting some great national reviews.

“I'll be seeing four or five shows a day in Edinburgh, it's a lot of work but I absolutely love it.”
