If you’ve ever wondered how charcoal is made, then you might want to head down to Petts Wood next week.
The practice dates back to 4,000 BC and the material is important because it burns quicker, cleaner and more evenly than wood.
It is made by cooking wood in a low oxygen environment.
See how it’s done on Thursday morning (July 3) from 10am, by the railway underpass at Hazlemere Road and is free to attend.
