Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee was just one when the first White Oak Triathlon was held, and World Champion brother Jonny wasn’t even born.
A group of leisure attendants at Swanley’s White Oak Leisure Centre formed the Dartford and White Oak Triathlon Club in 1988 and it held its first race a year later.
A quarter of a century on, the event is one of the oldest in Britain and returns for its 25th edition on June 8.
The accessible sprint version is perfect for novices, with a 400m swim (12 lengths of a 33m pool), a 21km cycle through north Kent and Bexley and an 8km run around Swanley Park.
Entry costs £38 for individuals or you can split the disciplines as a team for £60.
A familiarisation day, where you can test out the cycle through Hextable, Dartford, Bexley and Swanley is on Sunday (May 18), meeting in the White Oaks leisure centre car park at 8.15am, for an 8.30am start.
A practice lap of the run will start at 10am.
