I don’t know how to put this, but Paul Rudd is kind of a big deal. People know him.

Since his breakout role as Josh in Clueless in the early nineties, the 45-year-old has been in some of the funniest films and TV since.

In 2004, he was stylish, oversexed field reporter Brian Fantana alongside Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy in Anchorman and nearly a decade later it was time for the news team to musk up again for the sequel, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

This time, Ron puts the team back together to take New York’s first 24 hour news channel by storm.

It’s out on DVD, with plenty of bonus footage on April 28. Don’t act like you’re not impressed.

Paul said he was "so happy" to return to the role after nearly a decade.

He said: “There had been talk over the years about a sequel, but for whatever reason it didn’t happen. But then it did.

“It’s something the fans of the original wanted and I think the support largely came from people who saw it on DVD or TV.”

He added: “Still to this day I’ll flick through TV channels and come across Anchorman. I’ll watch it and laugh.”

While making Anchorman 2, director Adam McKay often let the cameras roll for 20 minutes to allow the cast to improvise and come up with unscripted jokes.

Paul said: “We’ll be working on a scene and it may go on to another tangent.

“Will or Steve (Carell) or any of us may come up with something. The script goes out the window.

“Adam will let us go. He’ll also yell things to us. Adam is the funniest guy on set, so when he comes up with something on the spot it’s brilliant and the scene goes from great to brilliant.”

In fact, so much extra material was filmed that Adam said it would be possible to cut a completely different film without repeating a joke.

Paul said: “A lot of funny stuff didn’t make it in the final cut.

“That’s great news for the DVD because anything that didn’t make it in the film we could put on the DVD.

“We did a big musical number and it didn’t make it into the final cut. It was really funny, but we had to lose it to keep the running time down.”

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is available on Blu-ray and DVD from April 28.
