Pastels are the make-up theme of the season, but if that’s not your thing then you might enjoy a splash of brighter colour, writes our fashion blogger Indra Wignall.

One of the hottest palettes set to launch next month is the Urban Decay Electric Palette.

Brilliant and adaptable, you can wear the shades on their own or team some up for a great multi-tonal look. It’s available at Debenhams and House of Fraser for £38.

If you're not feeling brave enough to splash out on a whole palette, how about a single eyeshadow?

Swedish brand Make Up Store have a massive range with a different collection being featured each month.

Our picks from the upcoming products are Harlequin, April’s striking emerald, Maya, an electric blue shadow coming in June and Orange Peel, a bright tangerine that hits the shelves in July. All shadows are £11 each.

You can buy Make Up Store products from their Carnaby Street store or online at makeupstore.se

For nails, there are some great launches happening at your fingertips.

Leighton Denny has recently launched the new International Collection for SS14 and amongst them are Reach for the Sky, Passport to Shine and Glamazone. Get them from John Lewis or Marks and Spencer for £11.

If you're not looking to splash out, look no further than Collection.

The budget brand has 24 new must-have shades, including Neon Pink and Sonic Blue.

Get the new Work the Colour nail polishes from Superdrug or Boots, for £1.99.

Complete the look with bright lips, perfect for those who love a simple catflick eye and statement lips look.

GOSH has released its new range of lip lacquers which will be a hit with users of lipstick and lipgloss alike.

There are a range of colours available but I love Hot Lips (orange red), Dangerous Lips (blood red) and Crispy Lips (bright pink) for £5.99 each.

Orange lips are a huge trend right now and Illamasqua have this covered with their new Glamore lipstick in Soaked (£16.50).
