IT'S unlikely you'll be that surprised by the inking on the arm of darts legend Andy 'The Viking' Fordham.

Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham, 51, from Charlton

Why this design?

My nickname’s The Viking. I had just become a granddad and I wanted to get the name of the kids on it and I’ve got my kids names on there and my missus’ name in the middle, Jenny.

When did you get it?

Earlier on in the year.

How much did it cost and where did you get it done?

It was a company called Scars Tattoos. I met them the Circus Tavern and they said they want to do a tattoo for me. He came up with this. I went over there and they did it.

Did it hurt? What did it feel like?

Yes it did f*****g hurt. Not so much on the upper part, but the lower part was a bit tender. When he’d done it, there were a few white bits he had to put in. I thought it would be alright. It was like a f*****g red hot poker going in my arm. But I’m really pleased with it, they’re like artists.

What did your friends say?

People love it. I’m hoping if I can get back on TV, it’ll be there and I can show it off. When he did the outline I thought ‘Oh my god’ but when he finished it, the shading and that, it’s just mental.

Do you have any other tattoos?

I’ve got two grim reapers, I’ve got a shooting star that looks like it has been shot out of the f*****g air, I have got something on my back but I can’t remember what it is – either a butterfly or a swallow.

When I was younger I used to have biker friends, and a friend’s band had a logo of a dog being sick and he did it with just a needle and the ink.

Andy plays in The Legends of Darts Masters at IndigO2 on January 25. Go to theindigO2.co.uk, axs.com or call 0844 8244824
