GELATO not be the snack you instinctively reach for in the middle of winter, but Black Vanilla is out to change that with some seductive Christmas flavours.
The makers of exquisite chilled desserts in Greenwich and Blackheath have launched five festive flavours available throughout December.
There is the wacky, Heston-esque take on the Christmas dinner with Cranberry gelato with Turkey Ripple, a Mulled Wine sorbetto, Mince Pie gelato with premium mincemeat and shortcrust pastry, a Christmas Pudding gelato laced with fruit cake and brandy and Panettone gelato with Italian leavened bread and candied fruit.
Award winners Black Vanilla set themselves apart from big brands by using a simple philosophy of handcrafting using the best ingredients. Whereas ice cream can have up to 25 per cent fat, gelatos have only four to eight per cent fat and sorbettos are dairy and fat free, making them almost guilt-free.
