Me and My Tattoo: Terence Martin
Terence Martin, 27, from Bromley
Why this design?
It was something for my Nan when she passed away. I wanted something to remember her by.
My dad has had tattoos since he was 14 or 15 years old, he did his own. I just wanted something done to remember her by that I can always look back on.
How much did it cost?
About £500. I had it done in four different stages; I had the word Guardian, then the word Angel, then the angel, then bits to piece it together. I started when I was 18 and finished when I was 20, so it took a while.
Did it hurt?
Anyone who says tattoos don’t hurt is lying. Bits are more bearable than others.
It’s something you can go through because you want the finished product. It’s a burning sensation, like someone scraping a burning pin.
What did you family think?
My mum didn’t like it when I got the first bit done, but she did like it when it was finished because it was for my mum’s mum.
My friends thought I was nuts at the start but the more I have got, the more people have got used to it.
Have you got any more?
I have my whole right arm, the other arm, a small one on my ankle, one for my granddad, my other nan’s initials. I love them and I plan to get more.
