Olympic champion James DeGale to face American Dyah Davis at Bluewater
AN OPPONENT has been named for Olympic gold medallist James DeGale’s fight at Bluewater next month.
The WBC Silver super middleweight champion will face American ‘Dangerous’ Dyah Davis at the centre’s Glow events venue on November 16.
DeGale, who is hoping to face the winner of the Carl Froch-George Groves showdown, said he wants to give “a great performance” against Davis, who has won 22 of his 26 fights and knocked out 10.
He said: “I see Davis as a really good test and I want to get in there and stick on a great performance for all the fans and do a good job on him.
“I’m going to go in there full of confidence, I’m going to be super fit and I’m basically going to go in there and try and get him out of there."
Davis is a former NABF super middleweight champion and last year took the now-WBC world super middleweight champion Sakio Bilka into the 10th round while fighting for the WBO Intercontinental title.
Davis said: “I’m very excited to be facing DeGale.
"I know what I'm up against going into his backyard, I’ve been in this position before and I'm going to do everything I can to come out victorious.”
The fight will be broadcast live on Channel 5.
