Theatre meets food at Deptford Yam Yam festival
A FESTIVAL in Deptford will explore what happens when art meets food.
Yam Yam at the Albany Theatre will showcase a range of different pieces where the culinary meets the cutting-edge creative between October 6 and November 17.
Among the events are a performance food fight, the history of fried chicken, foraging workshops, poetry a la carte and a theatre show where the audience brings ingredients to cook and eat together.
A launch day, from 11am on October 6, will offer an opportunity to sample the festival’s delights, including a petting zoo, a cocktail making workshop, live music, tasting events and a barbecue.
The Albany’s chief executive Gavin Barlow said: “Yam Yam is the perfect Albany story: bringing together some of the finest artists from across the country and beyond to create work that truly speaks to and engages with our community.
“With art created in collaboration with local people, and food grown in our own garden, Yam Yam is a great example of the creativity thriving in the heart of Deptford.”
