Petts Wood fish and chip shop The Village shortlisted for prestigious award
A PETTS Wood chippy has been shortlisted for a regional award.
The Village Fish and Chips is one of the six takeaways in London and the South East to make the list for the regional Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year at the 2014 National Fish and Chip Awards, organised by the authority of seafood, Seafish.
The six shortlisted restaurants will compete to be the regional winner and be in with a chance of bagging the ultimate prize.
The overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in January hosted by Michelin-starred TV chef Jean Christophe Novelli.
To reach this stage, the shops were judged by industry experts before being visited by a mystery shopper.
Starfish chief executive Paul Williams said: “Every year we see the standard of shops getting higher and higher and this year will be no exception. Seafish has been running the awards for 26 years and the calibre of entries demonstrates the battle for the national title will be as fierce as ever.
“The National Fish and Chip Awards have not only improved the standards of the industry and raised awareness of the issues surrounding sustainable fishing practices, but it has also generated additional revenue for the businesses involved adding to the shop’s cachet.”
