Bexleyheath actress scores leading role in Rocky Horror Show
A BEXLEYHEATH actress is touring the country in one of the nation’s best-loved musicals.
Former Townley Grammar schoolgirl Rachel Grundy, 27, saw off hundreds of other hopefuls to bag the part of the female phantom in the 40th anniversary tour of The Rocky Horror Show.
She is also understudy to the lead roles of Janet and Columbia, and will play Janet for three weeks while Tracy Beaker actress Dani Harmer was on holiday.
The role is the highlight of Rachel’s career-to-date which began at The Liz Burville Dance Centre in Bexley in 1994.
It was there that she was in the Nutcracker at the English National Ballet and runner-up at Bexley’s Search for a Star 1996.
As a youngster, she was on TV at the Disney Kids Awards 2000 and appeared in numerous plays and pantos at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford.
Having finished her training at The Bird College, Sidcup, she has been in music videos, a Boots TV advert and the lead singer on a Mediterranean cruise ship.
She played Agnetha in the Abba show Waterloo and was the lead in a German version of Starlight Express before taking the role on The Rocky Horror Show.
