Trio of Greenwich Theatre plays nominated for Edinburgh Fringe awards
THREE of Greenwich Theatre’s co-productions have been nominated for awards at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The theatre sent an unprecedented nine productions to three venues this year and the nominated shows stood out from over 2,500 others.
Track 3 was nominated for The Stage’s Best Ensemble Award, while Sam Rose in the Shadows and Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs were both nominated for the Primary Times Children’s Choice Award.
All three pieces will transfer to London in the next month.
Director of Greenwich Theatre James Haddrell said “The Edinburgh Festival is the biggest arts festival in the world, so to have three of our shows standing out from the crowd to pick up these award nominations is a great endorsement of the work we are doing.
"We are delighted to be bringing all three shows back to London, with two of them playing here at Greenwich Theatre to launch our autumn season.”
Track 3 takes Chekhov’s Three Sisters from its Victorian origins and chucks in dance, song and humour and will be at Greenwich Theatre from Tuesday (August 27) until Saturday (August 31).
Sam Rose in the Shadows – a heart-warming story about Same and his son Ivan’s quest for happiness in the darkest of places – will be at Greenwich Theatre from next Tuesday (September 3) to Saturday (September 7).
Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs is based on an award-winning book by Purple Ronnie creator Giles Andreae and Russel Ayto and will transfer to London Wonderground on the South Bank from Wednesday (August 28) to Sunday, September 8.
