Forest Hill’s community and traders will come together at the end of the month as Fashion Week returns.
Volunteers, traders and community groups have joined forces for a long weekend of fashion-themed activities from Thursday, September 24, to Sunday, September 27.
This year the theme is Creativity, Community and Culture.
Here are just some highlights:
Forest Hill Creates Fashion
A mannequin will be displayed at the Archie Parker in Dartmouth Road from Sunday, September 20. Anyone can come along throughout the week and contribute a unique fashion piece that will be displayed in the final show.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at the Fashion Marquee on Dartmouth Road from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Sunday, September 27
Bring snacks and wear a wacky costume for the party. There’s a catwalk show afterwards from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. On Sunday, September 20, there’s a chance to make your own Mad Hatter’s Hat for the part at a Kids’ Design Workshop at Sugar Mountain from 1pm to 3pm.
Cupcake decorating and face painting workshops from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Friday, September 25
Kids (and accompanying adults) can decorate fashion-themed cupcakes for free at one of three 30 minutes sessions at Sugar Mountain. You’ll need to book at fhfw.co.uk. The sessions coincide with face painting workshops at Hooray Party Shop.
Drop Red Gorgeous at The Railway Telegraph from 8pm on Friday, September 25
Come dressed in your best red outfit for an evening of hot salsa music.
The main catwalk show at the Fashion Marquee in Dartmouth Road from 2pm on Saturday, September 26
The main event will include work from six eclectic designers as well as a section called Pavement2Catwalk, which helps vulnerable people. There’s a chance to decorate your garments for this section (pictured above) at The Railway Tavern from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday, September 24.
Catwalk after-show party at Hill Bar from 8pm on Saturday, September 26
Once the models are off the catwalk, the party begins at the Hill with live music. Everyone’s welcome.
