Cyclists are gearing up for a unique off-road ride in Bromley that will raise much-needed funds for charity.

CYCLEfirst on Sunday, April 26 will see riders pedalling around several circuits of a never-used-before four-mile grass, track and mud route around the Rookery in the town centre.

It starts at 9am at the Bromley Common entrance to Norman Park and costs £20 for adults, £5 for under 16s with an adult and there are discounts for families.

It is to raise money for Advocacy First, a Bromley-based charity which helps older and vulnerable people in the community.

Trustee and fundraiser Stephen Shooman said: “We wanted to have something that really makes a significant difference.”

“The Rookery has never had a cycling event on it before. It is off-road and near the centre of Bromley. It’s innovative, it’s imaginative and it’s unique.”

The charity hopes to attract 200 cyclists to the event, which will also include police bike marking and a smoothie bike.
