Once dismissed as exercise for cardio queens, fitness classes for older men are on the rise across Bromley with groups aged 50-plus signing up to get active and make friends.
Men aged 50 to 85 meet at venues across the borough for 12 weeks of free one-hour classes carefully designed to suit their needs, funded by Sport England.
Participants also have the opportunity to enjoy cycle training, walking, tai chi, bowls and walking football.
Organiser Jackie Rubin, of Age UK Bromley and Greenwich, also provides advice on diet, prostate cancer awareness and alternative activities for when the course has ended.
She said: "It’s wonderful to see how supportive they are of each other. They really start to bond. Sometimes, they just need reminding that they can still do it."
For more details on how to get involved or if you have a free venue available, which could be used to host a programme, email jrubin@ageukbandg.org.uk or call 0208 3151850.
