Londoners like to do it standing up while people living in the south east are kinkiest, according to a new survey.

A map identifying regions’ bedroom preferences has been drawn up by online pharmacy UKMedix.com.

The company delved into our sexual preferences as part of a larger study into sexual health and habits of Britons.

People were asked to identify their favourite sexual positions and the results were analysed by region with the following results.

  •          Northern Ireland – Cowgirl / Girl on Top – 43%
  •          Scotland – Spooning – 39%
  •          North East – Reverse Cowgirl – 31%
  •          North West – Missionary – 42%
  •          Yorkshire & the Humber – Doggy Style – 36%
  •          East Midlands – Cowgirl / Girl on Top – 38%
  •          West Midlands – 69 – 24%
  •          Wales – Doggy Style – 51%

News Shopper:

Overall, traditional missionary came out on top (pun totally intended).

The survey also asked people how kinky they thought they were on a scale of one to ten.

Down in the south west, they regard themselves as a three but in the south east we’re top of the charts at nine out of ten.

Sarah Bailey of UKMedix.com said: “It’s interesting to see how different regions fare in the bedroom. We were very surprised to see how much difference there was in people’s preferences based on where they live in the UK, and also to see that the missionary position was more often the winner – it seems that as a nation we are still traditionalists, or perhaps romantics, at heart.

“It’s also funny to see where people rate themselves on our kinkiness index; with people in the South East apparently most likely to be swinging from the chandeliers with their other halves.”
