Halloween 2008
Halloween 2008

HALLOWEEN should be a time of year when children and adults can enjoy themselves.

This year the message from the Safer Bromley Partnership is to have a good time but trick or treaters on Halloween night should respect people’s wishes when it comes to knocking on their doors.

To help get the message across to everyone in the borough, the Safer Bromley Partnership has teamed up with News Shopper to promote a considerate approach to the festivities on October 31.

The message is clear.

Chairman of the Safer Bromley Partnership Cllr Colin Bloom said: “We want people to have fun but we are also committed to promoting a safe and carefree night for everyone, whether they are celebrating or not.”

Advice to avoid dealing with unwelcome callers

  • Make sure doors and windows are locked.
  • Timer switches can be fitted to operate radios and lights when you are out.
  • Close curtains or blinds to prevent potential thieves seeing into your home.
  • Visible burglar alarms make burglars think twice.
  • Never leave a spare key in a hiding place such as under the doormat or in a flowerpot.
  • Consider joining or starting a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
  • Register your property at immobilise.com
