Following in the slipstream of its Wii and PSP release F1 2009 is about to roar out of the App Store pits and on to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I reviewed the PSP version last month and thought it was excellent.

Now mobile gamers on iPhone and iPod Touch will be able to get behind the wheel with the release of a pocket-sized version of the game.
Set for release next week, F1 2009 features all 10 teams, 20 drivers and 17 circuits from the 2009 Formula 1 championship.
Obviously it's not going to be the full-scale racing experience of its PSP and Wii counterparts. Instead the iPhone/iPod version will offer time-based challenges more suited to one-the-go gaming.
F1 2009 from Codemasters will feature time trial and endurance modes.
In time trial the aim will be to set the fastest lap at a circuit of your choice playing as your favourite driver.
Endurance will challenge players to set the best average time over six, nine or 12 laps.
Times will be uploaded to leaderboards on the AGON social platform so you can see where you rank in the world.
It's good to see a great racing game like F1 2009 get such a quick release on the iPhone and iPod Touch. I can't wait to see how it drives.
Between this and the forthcoming GT Racing Motor Academy from Gameloft it seems Real Racing may finally have some proper competition in the racing sim genre.
