Not many people get excited about headphone but they are an important gadget when you think about it.

For those people who spend a lot of time listening to music or playing games, especially on the go, a good set of headphones is a worthwhile investment.

If you're going to use them a lot it's much better to go for some quality than use a rubbish set of little earbuds that will ruin your entertainment experience and inflict unwanted noise on other people.

The Groovez headphones from STK Accessories are well worth looking at, partly because they offer a high level of quality but also because they provide the extra versatility of being Bluetooth-enabled.

The headphones can be charged up using a USB cable and after that connecting the Bluetooth is very easy - switch on the headphones and pair them up with a tablet or phone by going into your device’s settings.

Once that's done you can listen to your songs, TV/movie audio or game sounds wirelessly without any cumbersome leads getting in the way.

The Bluetooth isn't perfect. It can be a bit juddery at the end of songs and other occasional moments. The range is said to be 10 metres, but I've found it cuts out almost as soon as I leave my iPad in one room and step into another.

This may be a limitation of Bluetooth rather than the headphones, and the connection does work absolutely fin about 95 per cent of the time. It's also a lot less fiddly than having wires.

There are buttons on the sides for volume control, next/last song and play/pause so you don't need to keep reaching for your device to make adjustments.

If you do want to forego the Bluetooth and connect the Groovez directly in the old-fashioned way, a cable comes with them.

With their soft padded underlay and cushioned cans, the STK Groovez remain comfortable during extended use.

I'm not a pedant for the sound quality of headphones. I'm not one of those people who can immediately identify when there's too much of this or too little or that - all I know is whether a sound is good or bad and whether my music sounds as it should. For me the sound through the Groovez is rich, deep and clear - I haven't heard anything coming through them with what I would call too much bass or anything that's been too high-pitched.

Trying out any headphones before buying to test how they feel on your head and sound in your ears is recommended.

Style is also a subjective quality, but I think the Groovez are a good looking set of headphones. With their sleek glossy black plastic across the top and sides along with their rounded cans, they are easy on the eye.

The headphones can be folded up for extra carrying convenience, although I have a slight concern that the hinges may end up getting squeaky or loose further down the line.

Overall, the STK Groovez have proved to be a very good quality and useful set of headphones. At £59.95 they are one of the better sets I’ve tried at this sort price point.

If you invest in these for your music and gaming I don’t think you’ll be going too far wrong.
