Run by husband and wife team Sue and Peter Wood, The Cock Inn, at Shoreham Lane, Halstead, is a delightful country pub offering delicious home-made food and a great selection of real ales from independent breweries.
In a building which dates from the 1500s, having been a public house since 1734, it is a lovely, traditional pub and the perfect setting to enjoy a few drinks with friends, a meal out with your partner or to relax after a country ramble.
Whatever the season, The Cock Inn is the perfect place to be with a delightful garden when the weather is fine and cosy inglenook fireplaces where real log fires burn on cold nights. It also has a car park.
Its food menu is mouthwatering. From Thursday to Saturday evening you can choose from the a la carte menu offering fresh fish, steak, chicken and vegetarian dishes. Wednesday is steak night, when you can have a rump, ribeye or sirloin meal for two plus a bottle of wine for £23.95 per couple.
On Sunday, a two-course roast dinner with vegetables, all the trimmings and delicious desserts costs £10.50.
