Plan for new restaurant in old Deptford toilets

TROT along and take your seat at what could be Deptford's newest restaurant - a disused public toilet.

The old convenience in Folkestone Gardens has been unused for 26 years, according to a planning application submitted to Lewisham Council.

Now Kuma Environmental Design wants to create a takeaway restaurant there, complete with an outdoor seating area, which would open from 10am to 11pm each day.

Much of the current toilet building's exterior is expected to be kept as it is but there will be modifications inside.

The current building, which faces Rolt Street, includes six toilet cubicles and a disabled facility.

A decision on the application is due next month.
