A Bromley schoolboy’s love of cooking has landed his food a coveted spot on the menu of a town centre restaurant.

Twelve-year-old Ethan Pereira won the Bromley Food Fest Kids’ Recipe Competition, which was run in association with News Shopper, with his Hell-Forged Chicken Wings.

The spicy but healthy dish will now be served as part of the Christmas menu at Texas Jacks in the High Street while he has won £100 towards a family meal at the restaurant from festival organisers Your Bromley.

Ethan said: “I've always enjoyed cooking and love to cook for the whole family. My family love a bit of spice so I decided to pay around with flavours and that's how I came up with this recipe.

“I was ecstatic when I found out I had won. I had just woken up, I checked my emails and when I had found out that I had won I was jumping for joy.

“I ran down the stairs to my mother shouting ‘I won, I won!’”

Texas Jacks’ Alper Yagmur said: “Ethan’s recipe is perfect for us.  It’s healthy and really tasty and we can’t wait to serve it to our customers over the festive period.”

The competition was part of the inaugural Bromley Food Fest, which was organised by Your Bromley from September 15 to 18, and included events around town include a food trail and chef demonstrations.
