A MasterChef finalist will take over the kitchen at a Blackheath restaurant for one night only next month.

Tony Rodd, described by judge Gregg Wallace as ‘the master chocolatier’ will host his own pop-up at Chapters on Monday, July 20.

After Champagne and canapés from 6pm, Tony will cook up a five-course menu alongside the award-winning restaurant team.

Chapters head chef Nick Simmons said: “We spotted Tony on Masterchef straight away and we’re very happy to have offered him our first ‘guest chef’ position at Chapters.

"Our business sits at the heart of the local dining scene and I’m sure our guests will support us in wishing Tony well in this event and his future career in food.”

The menu entails:

  • Bloody Mary Gazpacho - with spice and vodka
  • Monkfish and Cockles - monkfish tails wrapped in parma ham served with cockles and a lemon sauce
  • A Celebration of Cauliflower - roasted, pureed and picked cauliflower with deep fried tempura cauliflower leaves, grapes, hazelnuts and thyme

Tony said: “I'm really excited to be working with Nick and his team at Chapters. The restaurant has always been a favourite of mine and I can often be found in there for a late breakfast with friends on the weekend.

"The food is exciting, the service some of the best in town and I always feel at home in there.  It will be a real thrill to be behind the stoves and bringing my menu to the diners.”
