Chicken giant Nando’s is set to open a restaurant in Orpington town centre before Christmas.

The peri-peri specialist has the final restaurant unit at the new development at Walnuts Shopping Centre where Odeon cinema opened earlier this year and the 63 room Premier Inn opened in August.

Following a £1million fit-out Nando’s is due to open in December and will sit alongside Deans Diner and Bella Italia in the new development.

The chain, which already has a restaurant at the Nugent Shopping Centre, has taken a 20 year lease at the new site with a break option after 15 years from Rockspring Property Investment Managers.

Rockspring’s asset manager Shaun Hose said: “Nando’s is an important letting for the Walnuts and is testament to both the strength of the shopping centre’s location and the new leisure offering.

“We now have a cinema, gym and hotel, as well as restaurants and cafés, bringing both leisure and hotel elements to the shopping centre - therefore increasing visits and dwell time, which has seen our footfall increase dramatically as a result.

“We look forward to working with Nando’s and engaging with new occupiers who wish to sit alongside the great names Walnuts already has.”
