Flavours from around the world will be served up in Orpington this weekend as the town gets its first street food festival.

Eats from the Street is setting up at the Nugent Shopping Centre from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, with 10 vendors selling everything from Thai noodles and broths to Polish stew and dumplings, pies, toasties, cakes and Texan-style brisket.

A converted Land Rover has been turned into a bar selling beers, cocktails and prosecco while an old Routemaster bus has been transformed into a seating area.

The Nugent’s centre manager Daniel Kane said: “It’s fantastic to be launching Eats from the Street at the centre this year.

“Street food is continuing to grow in popularity, with people keen to sample the latest culinary trends.

“The festival is a celebration of this, and gives local food traders the chance to come together and share their fantastic food creations with our shoppers.

“We’d encourage the region’s foodies to come along, try something different and hopefully discover a new favourite dish.”
