Woolwich has a brand new pub in a grand old building.
The Guard House opened this week at an 18th century Queen Anne-style old guard house in Woolwich Arsenal.
After passing through a grand entrance with two oversized stone Great Dane sentries, it is split into four areas, known as the Mess, the Conservatory, the Deli and the Glass House.
Owned by Geronino Inns, it has a bright new look and a ‘casual bistro feel’.
It has an all-day menu with treats such as ‘guinea fowl Kiev served with Savoy cabbage, bacon and chestnuts’ or ‘open roast beef sandwiches with crispy shallots and horseradish cream’ and Sunday roasts.
