A former building society headquarters has been given a priceless makeover and reopened as a quirky pub.
The former headquarters of Woolwich Building Society in General Gordon Square has been converted into a plush drinking hole called the Woolwich Equitable by company Antic.
It’s doors opened for the first time on Thursday (October 30) and there are plans to host vintage fairs, comedy, open mic nights, DJs and bands as well as serving a regularly changing drinks menu and British pub food with a contemporary twist.
The building’s heritage and decor have been incorporated into the boozer – in a similar vein to Eltham’s GPO and Deptford’s Job Centre pubs.
Marble cladding and vintage decor provide nods to the building’s former use.
