EastEnders tough guy Leslie Grantham grew up on a council estate in St Mary Cray.
The actor has led an eventful life.
At 18, when he was serving in the army in Germany, he shot and killed a taxi driver during a bungled robbery.
He spent the next 11 years in prison, and it was in London's Wormwood Scrubs where he was persuaded to join a drama group.
Grantham shot to fame as 'Dirty' Den Watts in EastEnders and returned to the role last year after a 14-year absence.
Grantham has recently been in the headlines for the wrong reasons again following allegations he sent sordid images of himself to a woman during a web chat and insulted his fellow cast members.
